Remembering Kevin Kelley

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kevin Kelley, an industry legend and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working with him. His passion for business, deep market knowledge and generous spirit always shone through.

Kevin’s career began at Fireman’s Fund after graduating from Boston University. He rose to lead as President and CEO of Lexington Insurance, then served as CEO of Ironshore, and as Vice Chairman of global risk solutions at Liberty Mutual. Even after stepping down in 2019, he continued to shape the industry through leadership roles, including his Non-Exec Chairman role at IQUW.

I had known of Kevin for many years throughout my career and met him a few times along the way, but it was at IQUW where we truly got to know each other. Kevin was immensely proud to be our Non-Exec Chairman and part of the IQUW team. We spoke frequently and I always valued his perspective. He was extremely well-read, with a sharp understanding of market conditions and an eye on the road ahead. His calmness, wisdom and ability to listen before offering thoughtful opinions were hallmarks of his leadership style.

But Kevin’s strengths went far beyond his career and professional brilliance. He was a kind and generous man. Well-travelled and endlessly interesting, he had a gift for putting people at ease and a willingness to support anyone who needed it. He was a true gentleman and friend.

Kevin’s insight and guidance has made a lasting impact on IQUW and our people. He will be dearly missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
